Our commitment to helping people with hEDS/HSD is driven by a desire to improve their lives, raise awareness, and foster a more inclusive and empathetic society. By working together to support individuals with hEDS, we can make a meaningful difference in their journey towards better health and well-being.
Amie has been a practicing clinician since May 2005. She graduated from Wytheville Community College with an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy. Years later, she returned to Old Dominion University for a Bachelor's in Science with a minor in Health Services Administration. She then returned once more to the University of Findlay and graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She has a desire to make big differences in the lives of those impacted by hEDS/HSD. This population is often overlooked, under-served, misunderstood, and gaslit because providers are not well versed in connective tissue disorders or believe hEDS/HSD is a rare condition. She wants to change that narrative. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, outdoor adventures, travel, good food and beer, exercise, and most recently photography.
AJ is a Physical Therapist, native to Southwest Virginia, specializing in spine-related ailments, but enjoys working with and learning about the entire body. Graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, he is committed to treating in his home region, being a medically underserved community. AJ is McKenzie Part A certified, with plans to continue his educational journey to stay up with current research and treatment methods, including EDS-specific certifications. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, reading, and researching genealogy, and is most recently learning a new language.
Frustrated with the care that patients with hEDS/HSD were receiving, she and AJ paired up to create a program for those with this "rare" condition. When strategizing on an all-encompassing program, they decided it would best to include all the necessary tools to manage physical health in this population.
